Renown Health is a locally-governed and a not-for-profit healthcare network in the greater Reno, Nevada area. Being a not-for-profit network allows Renown to reinvest their earnings to new programs, people and equipment.
Even though Renown Health is locally-governed they have established great partners that can help to better serve the community. For example, Stanford Healthcare, Stanford Children’s Hospital and Stanford Medicine become visionary partners in June 2016. It is the hope that having these partnerships will increase the amount of specialized services available in Northern Nevada.
Despite already having 12 primary care clinics throughout Reno-Sparks, Fallon, Fernley, and Carson City, Renown Health is opening another family practice facility at The Summit Mall in South Reno. This clinic will start out only offering primary care and laboratory services; but the hope and goal is that they will be able to offer more services down the road. Part of the reason they are waiting to add services is because there are a lot of unknowns in the health industry with the potential repeal and replacement of Obamacare.
With the growing population in the Truckee Meadows, particularly in the south meadows, the 10,000 square foot clinic is greatly needed to improve access to healthcare. This large new facility, opening this spring, will have 11 staff members. There is hope that one more family care physician and one more nurse practitioner will be added in the near future.
Demolition of the same was completed in November. Plumbing, electrical and interior finished were set to be completed in February. More than a dozen Reno-area contractors worked on the clinic. Several other Reno based companies worked on the project as well. Shaheen Beauchamp Builders LLC was the general contractor; Eric Fong of MBA Architects + Interior Design was responsible for the architectural and design aspects of the new facility; mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineering was done by MSA Engineering Consultants.
