Dr. David Samadi and the quest to fight prostate cancer
Dr. David Samadi was born and raised in Iran which is a Persian Jewish community. At a tender age of 15 years, he was separated from his family together with his brother Dan. This was during the Iranian revolution that happened in 1979. Dr. David Samadi along with his brother Dan was forced to start a new life on their own in Belgium. Despite the fact that the duo was alone they did not lose sight of their ambition and dreams of making their parents proud. David had the desire of becoming a doctor, and he studied hard. The two then moved to the U.S and their lives transformed into better ones and happier ones. He completed his high school at Roslyn, New York after moving from north London, Golders Green. He obtained his degree in biochemistry at Stony Broke University. In the year 1994, David received his master degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine.
Dr. David Samadi did his postgraduate training at Montefiore Medical Center. This was in the field of urology, and he later completed his practice in the same area at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. David also participated in an oncology fellowship in proctology which at Memorial Sloan-Kettering which he completed in 2001. Furthermore, in 2002, he did a robotic radical prostatectomy fellowship in France at Henri Mondor Hospital in Paris. In 2007 while at Mt. Sinai Medical Centre, he was named the Chie o the Division of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery. In 2010 Dr. Samadi was named the Vice-chair of the Urology department in the same hospital.
Dr. David Samadi gives counsel and guidance on the use of da Vinci robotic surgical system. This is a technology that helps surgeons a great deal during surgery as it aids in visualization by magnifying the surgical field. He is among the few urologic Oncologic surgeons having training in all three primary areas concerning operation. These include robotic, surgery-open and laparoscopic. He appears weekly as the host of Sunday House call on fox news discussing on how to solve central problems concerning prostate cancer including early detection of the disease. He is also a writer and a lecturer with a lot his work being published in medical journals. He recently wrote that Mitt Romney had undergone prostate surgery and was undergoing recovery successfully.
Dr. Samadi has appeared in many magazines including Forbes, Cable News 12 and Connecticut cable news channel. He has received a lot of awards and recognition over the years including America’s top doctor for cancer from 2009 to 2013. He has also been honored with the award for Best Urologist in New York in 2018. He has also been recognized as Most Compassionate doctor from 2010-2013.
